Newly shorn wool is often dirty, greasy and contains seeds etc. On average, each tonne of greasy wool contains 150 kg of lanolin, 40 kg of sweat, 150 kg of dirt (organic and inorganic), and 20 kg of vegetable matter, leaving 640 kg of wool fibre .Scouring is the process of removing these contaminants so that this high quality fibre can be easily spun.. Woolscour ( a new product developed and produced in Australia)has been developed to scour newly shorn wool. It is based on the Woolskin formula for cleaning and conditioning Sheepskin products.. The Woolskin formula has been adjusted to increase the grease dispersing properties of the solution. Dispersion is necessary to remove the heavy lanolin grease in newly shorn wool. Woolscour also contains both Tea Tree Oil and Lemon Myrtle Oil- natural products that are antibacterials, untifungals and miticides. Woolscour leaves the fleece soft and clean, ready for spinning. Woolscour is now available in North America in a 500mL bottle and can be ordered online by clicking Order: or by calling: 1-800-463-1985
